Languedoc-Roussillon is a region located in the south of France. The region's landscape is covered in vineyards-- there are nearly 750,000 acres under vine. The region is famous for being the largest contributor to what is known as Europe's wine lake, the vast oversupply of wine relative to demand. In 2006 the region adopted a system of terms to help distinguish and market its wines globally.
