Finally I went to an online forum and got my answer. And was it simple. After setting up the router connection simply unplug the router and the wifi extender. Then plug the router and wifi extender back in and you are connected to the internet. You can now unplug the wifi extender and move it to the area that needs the signal. I hope this helps.
